BEER & CHEESE EVENTS

Last week we were joined by the lovely staff of Glanbia in Ballyragget for an evening of Beer & Cheese pairings hosted by our very own Helen Finnegan, and Seamus O’Hara from Carlow Brewing. With a line-up including our new ‘Brewer’s Gold’ which is made with Organic cows milk from the Little Milk Company and washed in O’Hara’s Curim Gold, a great night was had by all!

junction with Knockdrinna after I came across an article online about beer and cheese pairings. This was a novel concept to me and I thought it would at least be a very interesting and different event to run. The Brewery Corner has been nicely renovated and is a lovely pub, (I will be back), with a great selection of Irish craft beers on tap. The beauty of the cheese and beer tasting is getting to enjoy a sample of a number of different beers (ale, stout, larger) if you can’t make up your mind. For the tasting, we were all presented with a paddle of 5 beers and a beautiful selection of cow, sheep and goats cheeses from Knockdrinna. We were given the suggested pairings and I was amazed at how well they mixed – far nicer than cheese and wine in my opinion. Hearing a little about both companies was a nice addition too. This is an event I would highly recommend, it’s a little different but is a fantastic demonstration of the great local crafts on offer. This may even have inspired some unusual Christmas present ideas!”
